- Yesterday I purchased a USR SPortster 33.6 modem in the internal version.
- Upon inspection the ROM is surface mounted to the board. It has a supervisor
- date of 1/11/96. I take it that this modem is non-rom upgradable as there is
- no socket onboard. This is not the Win modem nor the VI model, just the
- regular 28.8 with v 34+. Others keep referring to upgrading their rom chips.
- Is this a thing of the past now that the chips are soldered to the modems???
